Elite Law Firm Ward Hadaway Announced As Club Partner

Teesside Lions have agreed a new sponsorship partnership with top UK law firm Ward Hadaway, as the club continues to strengthen its programme on and off the court.

Ward Hadaway employs nearly 600 people across offices in Teesside, Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester and Newcastle. The firm provides a full-service legal offering to businesses, public sector organisations and individuals, with expertise spanning corporate and commercial law, real estate, housing, health and social care, private client services, education and local government.

The firm has an established presence in Teesside following its recent merger with The Endeavour Partnership, strengthening its long-standing commitment to the region and its role supporting local organisations, employers and communities across the North of England.

The partnership reflects shared priorities around development, professionalism and community involvement. Teesside Lions continue to invest in senior performance, youth and academy pathways and local participation, while Ward Hadaway is recognised for its work supporting regional growth, social value initiatives and charitable causes.

The sponsorship follows a period of steady progress for the club, including growth across the senior men’s programme, expanded junior pathways and wider community engagement across Teesside. Support from established regional organisations is central to sustaining that development.

James Thomson, director at Teesside Lions, said the partnership supports the club’s long-term plans, “Ward Hadaway is a highly regarded firm with strong regional roots and an established presence in Teesside. Their values align closely with what we are building at Teesside Lions, particularly around developing people and creating sustainable pathways. This support will help us continue to strengthen the club across all levels.”

Ward Hadaway business development director Alistair McDonald attended the Lions’ recent home win against Sheffield. He said, “There is a clear sense of ambition around the club, alongside a strong community focus. We’re pleased to support Teesside Lions and look forward to working with them as the programme continues to develop.”

Basketball is the second most played sport in the UK, with more weekly participants than rugby and cricket combined. The Lions’ programme is built around clear progression routes from grassroots participation through to senior national competition, reflecting the growing profile of the sport across Teesside and nationally.

Teesside Lions welcomed Ward Hadaway to the club and look forward to working together as the partnership develops.
